Understand the Installation Instructions

All towbars come with installation instructions, but they often get overlooked. By taking a few measures before you start, you can minimize the risk of problems and ensure a smooth installation. Find out step-by-step how you can make installation easier with a few tricks from Westfalia-Automotive.

1. Check if the Delivery is Complete

As soon as you receive a towbar, you should check that the delivery is complete and correct. Ensure that the contents of the box match the packaging and that all listed parts are included.

If this is not the case, contact the supplier or your dealer, who will take care of the issue. It must also be checked whether the vehicle information (vehicle brand, vehicle model, year of manufacture) matches the vehicle data listed in the installation instructions.

Attention: One set of installation instructions can be valid for several vehicles!

2. Follow the Manufacturer Instructions

Some manufacturers have special requirements for retrofitting towbars. This may include cooling system modifications, bumper changes, etc. These changes must be made in order to ensure that the vehicle continues to function properly.

Important: The customer should always be informed if changes have to be made to the vehicle as a result of installing the towbar.

3. Installation Instructions

Before installing the towbar, you should thoroughly review the entire installation manual. Read it completely and clarify any unclear pictograms. Familiarize yourself with the symbols used, which are usually explained in a legend at the beginning of the manual. Taking this step ensures that you can complete the towbar installation without any issues during the process.

4. Prepare the Tools

The required tools should be prepared in advance. If coding is required for the vehicle, make sure you have a suitable coding tool. Confirm that your coding tool is compatible with the vehicle.

Attention: Some tasks may require specialized tools.
